I love using ribbon in our hairdos and we've done several similar ribbon hairstyles on the blog with her long hair previously. This is just a quick and cute new lacing version that will work for girls with short hair as well as long. Start by making a side part and then parting out two rectangular sections directly underneath it. Then make a regular elastic braid in each section. (I did three sections in each row, you can do more if you want.)
Now you can sew in the ribbon. I'm guessing you probably already know how to do the lacing, but we added in a video at the bottom of this post just for fun if you need it.And no, you're not color blind. This picture was actually taken on a different day than we did the original pictures with the silver ribbon. For some reason I didn't get a decent picture of the side the first time.

LOL It's just weird and I'm completely self conscious that I sound like a total dork. Am I the only one who has video/audio fright?? I really am a nerd.

ReplyDeleteAlso if she likes blue, maybe you could try something like a turquoise color. It is bright, bluish and in style. I didn't really care for the other blue either. It wasn't the best color.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you watched the video or not, but I've had the same problem with the elastics breaking when I try to bring the ribbon through them. I've started bringing the ribbon underneath the elastics instead (as shown in the video) and haven't had an elastic break since. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI love this one! I did it on both sides of my daughters head and then flipped up the back with a flat iron. It looked SO cute! She got lots of compliments at church and it stayed out of her face all day. Love it!

DeleteI know this post is really old, but I was looking through your blog and just had to comment on this post! You voice doesn't sound bad at all on camera. I certainly know what it feels like to be really nervous about that. I think everyone hates to hear themself on video. I get really nervous and my hands shake. At least yours don't! LOL I used to post comstantly on my blog, than I got WAY too busy. I certainly admire your ability to keep up with your blog.....ah

Adorable hairstyle! And no you're not the only one who has video/audio fright. I don't like the way I sound on any kind of recordings either. The first thing I always say or think is 'that doesn't sound like me!' I thought I was the only one who felt that way too. It's nice to know I'm not alone. :)
