Our hair tutorial this week shows a cute braided half up hairstyle which is much easier to create than it looks! As you might notice in our video (below) the seemingly intricate woven pattern in the center of this braid is actually very simple and quick. The remaining hair in this half-up design is pulled back by using a standard lace braiding technique.
Although it was super windy on the day we filmed this style, we wanted to include a few outdoor shoots. The sunlight really brings out the awesome details in these braids! ;)
This style would be suitable for teens, girls, and women. A great hairstyle for school or other occasions. If you are wanting more of a "grown up" or teen style, the bangs (or fringe) area can be gently pulled out of the braid slightly to create a stylish and trendy pompadour look. We have included a picture of this as an example (below.) Of course, the edges of the lace braids can also be stretched to create more texture and a loose, relaxed look if you desire
Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
- 2-3 alligator clips (or similar)
- 2-3 temporary hair ties or clips to hold the ends of your braids while you are working
- 1 medium hair elastic or decorative barrette to hold the finished style
- Pomade, gel, finishing hairspray (optional)
This half-up style would be pretty with curls, waves, or straight hair. This would also be cute in a combination with an updo or ponytail if you prefer to wear your hair up.
If you have extra time and want to make the weave in the center even more extravagant, you could add as many extra strands to the center section as you want.
I love this one! I am trying it on my daughter for school.
