Here's a heart hairdo post from 2008. A heart with ribbons! The instructions aren't great on this one (it's old) but it's one of our favorites.

Make another pony with the rest of her hair at the bottom.
Take one of the braids and lay it over her head forming half the heart. Secure the end in with the lower pony.
Now you can start on the ribbon. Tie one end onto the elastic. Take a needle and thread the other end through. Start "sewing" the braid right onto her hair. Take the ribbon over the top of the braid, then pull it underneath, grabbing as much hair underneath as you can. When you get to the end of the first braid, just grab the other braid and keep going, forming the rest of the heart. (The ribbon is actually what holds the braid to her head, so make it kinda tight.) And, it probably doesn't even need to be said, but.......BE CAREFUL WITH THAT NEEDLE!!! (Or use a plastic one.)

Very cool!!! I will have to try this one for sure. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it. I'll probably use my yarn needle which is plastic and not at all pokey since it's intended for sewing yarn through afghans. I might have to do this one TODAY. My DD is about to pick out her style for the day in about 20 minutes. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I am excited to try it. I never even considered using a needle for the ribbon! I always tried tucking and pushing with a rat tail and it ALWAYS pulls the hair out.
ReplyDeleteShould I be calling Child Protective Services on you????
ReplyDelete(And to everyone that is reading this and think I am serious...I'm not!)

This is PERFECT! I was just talking to my BFF about her 10 year old's hair and we're going to try it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 year old saw me looking at your site and begged to have "heart hair" so we tried it. It really was SO easy! Thank you for your simple directions. Cool hairstyles always looked so complicated, but this is so easy!
