Today we're doing another request. One of our fans on facebook (Lauren) sent in a picture of these cute woven looking pigtails wanting to know if we could make a video showing how to recreate the style. I'm not going to post the original picture that she sent in, because I'm not sure where it came from (or who's child is in the photo.) We've actually done this hairstyle before, but never posted it on our blog and had forgotten about it. So I was super excited to see it again and add another back to school hairstyle to our collection. ;)
I'm thinking this would be a great school day style, as it only takes a couple of minutes to complete and looks so cute besides!
If you know how to do a basic fishtail braid, this should be easy for you!
Of course, you could make this style with or without the ribbons.
Normally when we're talking about pigtails, I think of a little girl. But these pigtails seem "grown-up" enough to work for a tween/teen or maybe an adult? What do you think? I might wear this if my hair was long enough!
I'm liking that this hairstyle has a relaxed, almost messy look.... but still finished looking.
Here's the quick and easy video tutorial. Enjoy!
I would wear this as an adult.....I love this!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you hide the elastic? I know you wrap hair around it but do you just tuck it in?
ReplyDeleteI think I might be able to do this!
ReplyDeleteFor wrapping the hair around it works best if you have a small topsy tail. After you wrap it a few times put it in the topsy tail and pull it through the elastic to tuck it in.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Makes me wish my hair wasn't so short. :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteThere are several ways to wrap the hair around the elastic. You could use a bobby pin to secure the hair. Or as Krys mentioned, a topsy tail works great. Or what we usually do is add a small, clear rubber band under the hair that is wrapped. Good luck!
Eventually, if I watch you enough I will be able to do it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute like all of your other hairstyles! Please check out my blog www.crazyhairmania.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI am a 14 year old girl who loves hair and I use my 10 year old sister as "the doll" to show my hairstyles off!
Cute style! Your daughter's hair is growing back quickly.
ReplyDeleteThis hairstyle is on trend with Fall 2010 "Prairie" look. Braids, pigtails, and any darling style is the clean, romantic look for Fall.
ReplyDeleteIt's feminine, yet funky.
