Fishtail Braid Hairstyle, Taught By ~ The Princess!
This fishtail braid (or fishbone - herringbone braid) "pin back" is a very quick and easy way to keep your bangs out of your face (while adding some style) when you want to leave your hair down. Our 9 yr old Princess came up with this video idea and cute hairstyle all on her own!
I really love how she made the braid loose with the bobby pins exposed for some "bohemian flair!" If you want an even more disheveled looking braid, you could stretch out the outside edge of the strands before pinning the braid back.
As shown in the hairstyle video below, The Princess also came up with a great idea to help start the fishtail braid in an easier way. She's a very smart girl if I must say so myself!
This braided hairstyle should work great with short hair, medium hair, or long hair.

P.S. As you watch the video, be listening for a "new" word that The Princess made up! Leave us a comment if you catch it. ;)
Great video! Was "sidewards" the new word? Haha.
ReplyDeleteHehe, love the new word near the end. Great job, Princess!

ReplyDeleteThe word is sidewards. Cute video and good job Princess!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tutorial, Princess! It was really smart of you to put a ponytail holder in first before begening the braid! I will use that technique to teach my 9&6 yr. old sisters how to do this!
ReplyDeleteAlso did you know that Shakesphere made up words? Some of them are still used today. He made up the word suspicious.
AWESOME! Great job! I do all the do's on my 9 year old, so she doesn't get any practice of her own except for a ponytail and a headband. I need to show her this for sure!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the word "sidewords!" That's something I would say!! How cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteSidewords!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job Princess!!!
ReplyDeletethat was really a smart idea, putting an elastic before doing the braid. "The cameraman loves it"!!! LOL! was that your dad?
Upsidewards, so cute! Great job! Now I'm trying to talk my almost 8 year old princess into trying it on me ;o)
ReplyDeleteI already knew how to do this, but I watched the video because I wanted to see the "infamous princess" do her own video! So proud of you.
ReplyDeleteAlthrough the video i was wondering whose head is the princess doing this do. when i saw your hands i realised she is the queen herself :) Wish we could see your face.
ReplyDeleteSidewards, too cute! I do this hairstyle to myself all the time. I love the idea of using an elastic to make it easier.
ReplyDeleteha i love the sidewards!
ReplyDeleteLovin' it! I'm always looking for ways to put up my bangs for school so this is perfect. I am SO using the word "sidewards" from now on!
