Another 5 Minute Hairstyle
(Back to School Hair, Part 3)
Today's hair tutorial shows how to make a bun..... a very quick and easy bun using rope braids, or twist braids!
I love the clean and simple look of a classic bun on a little girl (as well as on teens and women.) Sometimes it's just nice to have your hair up and out of your way. This hassle free hairstyle looks more complicated than it actually is and can be completed in just a few minutes. If you have been following our blog for a few years, you might remember the "flower bun ponytail." This is basically that same concept, morphed into a bun. ;)
This hairstyle would of course be great for school, but also for dance class, ballet, sports, work, or even a special occasion updo (like Prom, Homecoming, or a wedding.) If you wanted to make this more of a fancy style, hair accessories would be a very cute addition. You could also create this bun in a half ponytail (as a half up style) or in a side bun if you prefer.
The bunning technique used on the Princess in our video below, should work great for those of you with long hair. But, we also show a variation for creating the bun if your hair is shorter (or medium length.) Now that the Princess's hair is getting quite long, I am finding it more difficult to create certain types of buns without them ending up looking huge or "knobby." This bun seems to "eat up and spread out" her hair nicely, helping with this problem.
Supplies Needed:
- 3 hair elastics (preferably clear or similar to your hair color)
- Several bobby pins
- Comb
Twisted Knot Bun Video Tutorial:
I have tried to watch this 3x but it keeps freezing in 1:30 and I can't get past it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having issues with the video! Not sure what is causing it to freeze. You might try watching it directly on youtube and see if that helps? http://youtube.com/hair4myprincess
DeleteWould this work on really thick hair? My oldest has long hair, as well, but it's probably 5x as thick as your girl's hair. (A typical "throw up on the top of the head bun" takes about 7 ponytail holders wrapped around it to keep it up). Love this look, hope it works on hers!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try this on my daughter's hair!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post, There are also other beautiful hairstyles in this article “quick and easy hairstyles for school”
