A bohemian side braid and headband
Today's video tutorial shows how to create Astrid's braided hairstyle inspired by the new movie "How To Train Your Dragon 2."
We are loving this fun look! This hairstyle would be great for "hippie day" at school, a 70's hairstyle, Native American inspired hair.. or if you are dressing up as Astrid for Halloween.
This is obviously not an exact replica of the original style, but just our interpretation. Astrid, of course is blonde, has bangs, is wearing a brown leather type headband (rather than a colorful ribbon) and is actually an animated character.... with hair drawn by an artist. We did the best we could with what we have to work with, but character hair can be tricky sometimes. And we're not going to cut or dye the princess's hair for a style lol. Similar to our Frozen inspired Elsa Hairstyle, sometimes things are not going to be exactly right when we are trying to recreate cartoon images. ;)
Supplies Needed:
- A headband, or ribbon
- 1 small elastic
- 1-2 bobby pins to help hold the headband in place (optional)

As shown in the photos below, we also tried this hairstyle with wavy hair and I think it turned out super cute with a little added texture. Also, we placed the headband over her "bangs" this time (in the front) for a slight variation, which helped the headband to show more. You can choose to wear this style however you prefer!
I like.

ReplyDeleteYay! Love this hairdo! thanks so much for doing it! :)
ReplyDeleteCould you tell us how to do the hairstyle from "Edge of Tomorrow" that Emily Blunt wears? It's kind of like her hair is tied in knots in the back with spikey pieces sticking out.
