Our hair tutorial this week, the "fishtail wrap braid" ponytail hairstyle would be great for school, sports, work, and other casual or every day occasions. If you already know how to create a standard fishtail braid, this variation should be very easy for you! We love that this braid is unique, but still quite easy and quick. Something a little bit different than a regular fishtail.
If you like your braids to appear thicker and more "messy" looking (which is so fashionable and trendy right now) feel free to stretch the sides of your fishtail braid and deconstruct it to your liking before you wrap it up. "The Princess" wanted her hair more sleek and tight the day we filmed this because she was practicing gymnastics / tumbling and didn't want the braid to fall apart.
This hairstyle should work with straight hair, wavy hair, curly hair, medium length and long hair. If you have shorter hair, you might try creating this braid in a half up style, which would give you more length to work with.
Supplies needed to recreate this braid:
- Several small elastics. (The amount will depend on the length of hair you are working with.) We choose blue elastics to accent our braid. Of course, you can use any color you want. Or, you can use clear elastics if you want more of a sophisticated look. The brand of tiny elastics we used in this tutorial is called "Goody Ouchless."
- 2 medium size hair ties (one for the top and bottom of the braid.)
- Pomade, gel, hair spray, etc. (Optional.)
This is very pretty! I like the detail added.
